Here’s another neat item from the Rosen show in Philadelphia by glass artist Cathrine Labonte`.
Weiner Dogs !
The Weiner Dogs are all hand blown glass, avaailable in 12 colors, 4 of which are transparent similar to the dog in the picture, (see our page via the link below for all the colors). Cathrine also does Cats, Mice and a Bull Dog looking dog among other neat glass items. Because of the wide variety of colors we’re going to get a sample but it will take four to six weeks to receive a custom color, so think ahead, like two months. If you want to give a gift that no one else will come close to in cool, this is a real consideration.

It’s HOT in New York !
Impressions now that I had two days at the show and having just been at the Philadelphia Rosen show is that the show exhibitors and their wares are becoming more and more contemporary in style. The tradition decor in crystal and silver is still there but diminished greatly. As I looked deeper into the show booths, more and more modern pieces from tableware to home decor to accessories. Sunday was a real hassle getting to the show, first there was construction on the Lincoln tunnel approach and the tunnel into the city was only two lanes. There was a race that had traffic tied up out of the tunnel, it took us an hour from the approach until we finally found a open parking garage.
Fewer exhibitors by far, many of our pottery people were not at the show. It’s been a very tough year for small producers of unique hand crafted goods. Many have had to close up. We’re losing a vendor per week. Let’s remember that if these craft people are not supported the choices we’ll have is shopping at Wal-mart or Target for cheap junk.
