About The Artists -Ben and Kate Gatski, ages 30 and 32 respectively, possess an uncommon vision--to honor agriculture through art. They established Gatski Metal to design and fabricate unique metal works for indoor and outdoor spaces. They collect parts from farms and farm machinery dealers across Pennsylvania.
Ben and Kate are no strangers to the agricultural world nor to creative pursuits. Ben started his own dairy business at the age of 19. He bought a herd of jersey cows and managed them organically. After earning a degree in Human Ecology, Kate worked for the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture organizing educational events for farmers. While Ben and Kate were professionally occupied by agriculture they were informally experimenting with artistic expressions. Both Ben and Kate came from families with arts and crafts businesses. They established Gatski Metal in 2004.
Their unique metal work is made in rural Pennsylvania from recycled farm machinery parts. Each piece is hand cut and welded into new forms for use in homes and gardens.
